How long ago was that vacation?

Back in May we did a family vacation to the
Outer Banks in North Carolina, and though it was busy, it was wonderful to have a week with family without work and other interruptions.... It seems like so long ago, but as I'm writing this I realize that it was just last month!!! Man, it seems like we need another one, and it was only a month ago.... Anyway, random ramblings of a mommy brain.... :)

Bills Bills Bills!

Yikes! Somehow I forgot to pay the bills for a few weeks! Last night was a frantic check writing time, trying to make sure that everything got out in time. I had bills for gas and electric, cell phones,
auto insurance... I hadn't paid anything! I think I caught them all... I know I'll miss this season of crazy kid induced busyness someday, but right now I feel like I'm just barely holding it together!!!! Happy but harried :).

A Weddingless Summer!

I think that this is going to be my first summer in a long time without a wedding! Every year for the past fifteen years or so I've been flashed
diamond engagement rings by at least one person, but I guess they're all married now, or not heading there right away... Yeah! I like weddings, but I can use a break for a little bit, especially from the wedding shopping :). This summer is definitely a time to cut costs and try to catch up from a slow winter for work....

I have a family member who was recently laid off from work, and is trying to sort out what the next step is. There are not really tons of available jobs right now, which makes it a little trickier too... They would qualify to go out on disability, I would think, though they're not thrilled with that idea. It's unfortunate that some people have abused the Social Security Disability system so much that it's tricky to get it, and that there is a bit of a stigma attached. Some people really do need it! It's encouraging to find resources online that can help folks navigate
disability insurance, and can help them to get what they truly are entitled to. I'm printing out information and saving it up to share... Hard stuff to figure out but so thankful for all the info that's out there!

Which project to do?

I have been in a cleaning frenzy today, though you can't really tell by looking at the house! It's amazing how quickly things can get undone after they take so long to get done!! I am in a project mode too. I'd love to fix a few things up around here. Which project to do though? I know that my husband would love to replace a few
light fixtures to improve the lighting in the living room. I'd like to freshen up paint and just organize. Hmmmmm... I've been sitting for a few moments now, and the desire to get moving is fading away... Maybe another day :).

Whoops!

The other day I was backing up, in my usual half awake fog, and backed right into a posted sign. I punched the lens of my rear right light right out. Whoops! I figured no big deal, just pop it out and pop another one in. No such luck. The whole thing is one unit, and I walked away from the car place feeling like I had just paid for
Ferrari parts rather than minivan pieces :). Honestly, the one really annoying part of being a grownup is money stuff.... Bummer....

Is it the bed?

For years my husband has insisted that we need a new mattress, and I have fought against it tooth and nail. Our mattress is not
that old. I'm starting to wonder though.. We are both dragging constantly! It could be that we are just doing too much, or is it the bed? I know that he'd love to get one of the
sleep number beds most of all... I'd be VERY cranky though, if we did get one and were stlll tired all of the time. Hmmmmmm...
